研究內容

癌症一直是國人十大死因之首,伴隨人類基因解碼計畫的完成,基因與疾病間的相關性也為世人所重視及感興趣;而個人化醫學的興起,不同基因型的變化跟癌症生成及惡化程度之相關性也更加重要,因此本實驗室探討癌症病人基因多型性與癌症的關連性。目前主要著重在乳癌、口腔癌、肝癌等之探討。
活性氧在疾病的形成過程中伴演著一個重要的角色,為了因應活性氧所造成的氧化性傷害,生物體發展出抗氧化系統去對抗自由基的攻擊。本實驗室探討病人體內氧化性傷害及抗氧化物之變化情形,以了解其與疾病(包括:肝癌、乳癌、口腔癌、白血病及肝病、海洋性貧血、蠶豆症等)的關連性。
過度酒精攝取可能導致氧化性傷害與免疫系統之傷害,同時,其酒精代謝酶基因多形性與酒精引起的組織或器官傷害之間亦有其關聯性,因此,本實驗室探討酗酒之實驗室指標及其分子診斷之應用。
Cancer has been the top of the ten leading causes of death in humans. With the completion of deciphering the human genome, most researchers pay much attention to and are interested in the correlation between genes and diseases. Furthermore, with the rising of the practice of personalized medicine, the associations between the polymorphisms with carcinogenesis and/or the progression of tumors are also more important. Therefore, in our laboratory, we focus our research direction on the relationships between the polymorphisms with breast cancer, oral cancer, or hepatoma.
Free radicals and reactive species are involved in different human diseases; however, cells have efficient protection against harmful effects by enzymatic and nonenzymatic antioxidant mechanisms. Therefore, the study of oxidative stress and alteration of antioxidants and their relationships with various diseases are also investigated in our laboratory.
Excess alcohol intake will lead to oxidative stress and injury of the immunological system; meanwhile, there is a close association between the polymorphisms of alcohol-metabolic-enzymes and damage induced by excess alcohol intake. Therefore, alcohol toxicology and its clinical application are also explored in our laboratory.
